Seminar 6

The seminar starts with the students solving each other’s crossword puzzles. Then the puzzles are checked by the whole class. (Assignment 13)

The lecturer controls the report outlines.

The lecturer presents the practice exercises in ÕIS on Reported speech and the Passive voice and explains Assignment 14 (ÕIS)

The students read the text “Hydrologic Sciences” and do the exercises whch are controlled by the whole class afterwards.

Homework:

Prepare to write a report.

Do the exercises on the topic “Aquatic and terrestrial animals”

Seminar 5

Pair work: students work in pairs and present their sentences to each other (Assignment 12).

Read the article “How to cite sources in an academic paper?” and prepare to discuss it.

Read the text “Lake Vostok – The most pristine waters or the world and do the exercises to follow.

Homework:

Prepare the outline for the report (Assignment 7), list of references and necessary quotations and citations from the articles accompanied by references (05.03.2012)

Assignment 13: Make a crossword with the words from the first summary (there should be at least 15 words in the crossword) (08.03.2012)

In groups students write answers to the questions they have prepared for discussion and present them to the lecturer. (Assignment 11)

The seminar continues with the students making their presentations that are followed by a discussion.

Homework:

Make 5 sentences with the collocations from the articles using those that have not been in the crossword. The sentences should be written both in English and Estonian and taken to the next seminar either hand-written or in the form of a file. (Assignment 12)

Students continue reading their individuaal articles and start writing the outline.
